Is there anything in Cuba worth perusing?

I mean the intellectuals fled the country back in the 60s. The people who live there now, expect everything to be given to them, with little contribution. They are guaranteed the basic necessities to live even though they may be minimal. The current population grew up during a different Era and were taught different ideals. Would any change in Cuba even be a good thing considering Freedom is unheard of, technology is ancient, and people are just ignorant of what is going on around the world?
