The universe was created in an as-of-yet unknown process that may involve extra-dimensional planes (we will know more when teh LHC is built). The planet was formed due to gravity and dust could coalescion. life arose due to abiogenisis, and humans arose due to evolution. so did the brain, as you pointed out.
